Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 launches in China for $395

Xiaomi has expanded its Mi Home robot vacuum range with a new model. One of the key upgrades in the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 is its higher suction power: 28,000 Pa, up from 23,000 Pa on the Mop 6 Pro. In theory, this should improve the collection of fine dust and debris, particularly from carpets.

The more significant revision, however, concerns mopping. Xiaomi has replaced rotating pads with a roller-based wet-cleaning system. The roller is continuously supplied with clean water, while an integrated scraper removes dirt, which should prevent grime from being spread around during cleaning.

The robot also features a main brush and two extendable side brushes to reach corners and edges more effectively. At just 90 mm tall, it should fit beneath most furniture.

Navigation and dock station

For navigation, built-in cameras detect obstacles, with Xiaomi claiming recognition support for up to 220 object types. The robot can also cross small thresholds up to 40 mm high.

Its dock station handles several maintenance tasks. It can wash the roller with hot water at 80°C, and the tray is removable for cleaning. As with Xiaomi’s other smart devices, the robot can be controlled through an app and incorporated into a wider smart-home system.

In China, the vacuum costs 2699 yuan (approximately US$395), making it less expensive than the Pro model.
