Xingchi Supercharge Battery 2.0 takes centre stage
Sunwoda Power has unveiled a range of new batteries, placing particular emphasis on its next-generation ultra-fast-charging products, sodium-ion batteries and battery systems with integrated artificial intelligence.
The presentation focused on the Xingchi Supercharge Battery 2.0, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery engineered for passenger electric vehicles. It offers a peak charging rate of 15C, enabling charging from 5% to 95% in 9 minutes, or from 5% to 75% in 5.5 minutes.
The battery pack displayed at the event contains 264 prismatic cells and provides capacity exceeding 98.8 kWh at 844.8 V. Its maximum current reaches 1,800 A, while its service life is stated to exceed 1,500 cycles. Company executives said that ultra-fast charging can be used without restriction throughout the warranty period.
Two further passenger-car batteries were also introduced. One is a long-life version claimed to experience no degradation during its first year and 10% degradation over 10 years. The other is a range-balanced battery for hybrid vehicles, based on large cylindrical cells and capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes.
Sunwoda’s ultra-fast-charging development
Sunwoda said that its fast-charging technology programme began in 2019. The company progressed from 4C in 2022 to 6C in 2024, before reaching 15C for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and 8C for ternary lithium batteries in its latest generation.
For commercial vehicles, the company presented a dual-charger charging system with peak charging power of 1.44 MW.
Hybrid batteries and energy storage cells
Within the hybrid-vehicle segment, Sunwoda introduced battery packs ranging from 3 kWh to 7 kWh, using cylindrical cells with a 46 mm diameter. For instance, a 5 kWh battery delivers 150 kW of output and more than 15 km of electric-only range, while incorporating DC and 12 V systems into a 414 V architecture.
In the energy-storage sector, Sunwoda released several sodium-ion and lithium iron phosphate battery-cell models. According to Xu Zhongling, president of the company’s Central Research Institute, sodium batteries withstand more than 20,000 cycles at room temperature and over 10,000 cycles at high temperatures.
