This household helper is not without its limits. Very old, fragile fabrics can be weakened further by repeated intensive soaking baths. Heavily printed towels made with low-quality dyes may also fade over time. It is therefore worth checking the care label and testing the product on an inconspicuous corner first.
For the greatest possible effect, combine several steps:
- Pre-treat fresh stains with soap
- Use an oxygen bath for deeply embedded residues
- Run a hot wash with biological detergent for hygienic cleaning
- Finish by drying outdoors to remove odours completely
For coloured towels or delicate fabrics, manufacturers now offer specially labelled colour-safe or delicate versions that work more mildly. Check the packaging instructions before your favourite bathroom towel ends up lighter than intended.
