What Is the Rubber Seal Between the Blender Jug and Base For?

The rubber seal between the blender jug and base may look like a minor detail, yet it has an important role within the assembly. It forms part of the seal and helps prevent liquids from reaching parts that should not come into contact with the mixture while the appliance is operating.

What is the purpose of the blender rubber seal?

The rubber seal’s main job is to provide a seal between the components of the jug assembly. It helps limit liquid passing through the area where the jug, blade and supporting parts are fitted together.

Without an effective seal, small amounts of liquid can leak from the bottom of the jug. As well as creating mess, this may allow moisture to come into contact with components that are not designed to receive liquids.

What happens if the rubber seal is incorrectly positioned?

If the rubber is twisted, displaced or not seated correctly, the seal may be compromised. One of the most common signs is liquid appearing underneath the jug during or after use.

A dry, misshapen or damaged rubber seal may also no longer perform its role properly. In these situations, tightening the parts further will not always solve the issue and may even make correct fitting more difficult.

Why should you not use a blender without this part?

Without the seal, the assembly cannot operate in the way it was designed to. Liquid may find routes out through the lower section, increasing the likelihood of leaks and residue build-up.

For this reason, if the rubber seal is missing or damaged, it is best to consult the manufacturer’s manual and use a replacement part that is compatible with the appliance model.

How should you care for the blender rubber seal?

When cleaning, remove the rubber seal only if the model allows this and in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. Food remnants can become trapped in the fitting areas and affect the seal.

It is also important to check that the part has been returned to the right position before reassembling the jug. Do not improvise with other materials, as the seal’s thickness and shape are part of how the assembly works.

When should the rubber seal be replaced?

Repeated leaks, cracks, deformation or signs of drying out are reasons to inspect the condition of the part. A rubber seal that has lost its elasticity may no longer be able to create the necessary seal.

As blender models differ, the replacement must be a compatible part. This means that small rubber seal is no longer merely an accessory, but what it truly is: an essential component for sealing and the correct operation of the jug assembly.
